What it was about
Tattered plastic sleeves, outdated Wi-Fi passwords, house rules nobody can find: Gastkumpel replaces the paper guest folder. Guests tap their phone on a device – on the table or on the door – or scan the QR code, and have the Wi-Fi, house rules, recycling, tips and check-out on screen right away. No app, no account.
Gastkumpel is my own product, from the first sketch to shipping: hosts maintain their guides in the host area and see every change straight away in the live preview. I design and print the devices myself.
What I did
- Progressive web app for guests: copy the Wi-Fi password instantly, house rules, tips, 5 languages – no app download
- Physical devices from my own workshop: Pult, Platte and Puck, 3D-printed with an invisible NFC chip
- Host area with live preview, invoicing and payment in advance / Stripe
- No ongoing cloud cost traps: a lean PHP backend on my own server
